Affinity reveals itself in a gentle gradient, an ombré of light, surface, and sensation that forms the very logic of the salon. The ombré is more than a visual flourish; it becomes a spatial metaphor, guiding how the interior is sensed, lived in, and recalled. Here, nothing starts or stops sharply; instead, each moment melts seamlessly into the next. Overhead, a flowing chandelier sketches this intention, drifting through the space like a luminous line in the air. It offers the first hint of the interior’s nature: continuous, softened, always in gentle motion.

At the core of the project is a quiet, intentional stance: to use slowness as a spatial tool. Conceived by Atelier Svana under the direction of Bhavuk Jain, Affinity is envisioned as a salon that resists haste and excess, revealing itself gradually and rewarding those who linger. The design is anchored in transitions—between light and shadow, openness and enclosure, activity and stillness—where surfaces shift in subtle tones, light grows softer as it deepens, and the atmosphere transforms almost invisibly. Here, the ombré becomes a meditation on time, inviting guests to enter not just physically, but through the senses.
Nestled within the Radisson Hotel, the salon claims a spacious edge, surrounded by openness, abundant daylight, and glimpses of lush greenery. This flood of light shapes the very soul of the interior. Instead of simply magnifying it, the design crafts contrast: light is invited in, then filtered and refined, settling into a tranquil, balanced presence that soothes the brightness outside. The salon gently turns inward, inviting visitors to leave the hotel’s bustle behind and sink into a world of calm and composure.

From the very beginning, the custom chandelier emerges as a gentle guide. It meanders across the ceiling in an organic, branching sweep, never demanding attention to a single spot but instead mapping a path through the salon. Its presence quietly links the zones of arrival, preparation, treatment, and retreat, reinforcing the seamless continuity that defines the space. Like the ombré below, it hints at movement without hurry, presence without demand.
The layout echoes this philosophy of softness and flow. Instead of abrupt divisions, the salon reveals itself as a series of spaces that transition gently, one into the next. Active areas dissolve into pockets of stillness; communal zones slip into more private, intimate corners. Curved walls take the place of hard partitions, guiding movement and gaze while preserving openness. As the functions shift—from styling to washing, from treatments to waiting—the experience remains seamless and whole.
Within this approach, architectural limitations become creative opportunities. The low ceiling, often seen as a constraint, is transformed into an atmospheric asset. Light is drawn to the edges, wrapping each station in a continuous, gentle glow that focuses attention without isolating. Instead of harsh overhead beams, the light hovers—soft, enveloping, and precise—offering intimacy without confinement. Throughout, lighting is tuned to a warm-neutral harmony, carefully balanced for comfort and clarity. Textures, tones, and materials are revealed in their true character, while the mood remains calm and unwavering. As eyes adjust, subtler details emerge: the layered depth of surfaces, the gentle touch of finishes, the shifting play of light throughout the day, quietly marking moments of transformation and care.
Materials are carefully chosen to sustain this atmosphere and withstand the rigours of daily life. With the salon’s high functionality in mind, each surface is selected for durability, easy upkeep, and graceful ageing. Floors and walls extend the ombré concept, shifting gently in tone so that light and shadow play softly, never overwhelming the eye. Sturdy yet refined, these surfaces promise longevity while preserving a tactile calm at the heart of the interior. Metal is used sparingly, appearing as frames, crowns, and delicate layers rather than bold declarations. Soft gold finishes lend warmth and depth without glare. Furniture and objects share a unified palette, strengthening the sense of continuity and comfort while supporting the daily rhythms of styling, washing, treatment, and rest.
Affinity unfolds through a gradient.
An ombré of light, surface, and experience.
A space not designed to impress instantly.
One to remain.
One does not leave Affinity with a clear memory of individual rooms or objects, but with a lingering sense of calm. The light stays with you, the softened transitions, the quiet rhythm of the space. It is an experience that settles into the body rather than the mind—subtle, unforced, and quietly restorative.
