At DLF Promenade, Le Marche, a premium grocery store, reimagines the traditional grocery model as an immersive and interactive food experience.

The architectural language establishes luxury through meticulous details, particularly in the ceiling and floor. Exposed ceilings are adorned with ornate cornices overhead, while custom-designed tile patterns are laid out below. These elements contribute to Le Marche’s premium aesthetic, drawing the eye throughout the space.

Central to the spatial strategy are the custom-designed counter installations, which function as both practical units and sculptural elements. These counters combine diverse materials—fluted wood, tile, and stone surfaces with floating metal components—creating a sophisticated material palette that delineates specialised zones while maintaining visual cohesion. The counters act as a metaphorical stage, showcasing various culinary performances—from artisanal gelato making to crafting mocktails—transforming everyday shopping into theatrical culinary displays.

Particular attention has been given to environmental considerations through the treatment of the butchery section. By creating an enclosed volume, the practical problem of odour control and contamination management is effectively addressed, maintaining the refined atmosphere of the main retail space without compromising its aesthetics.

The project’s most innovative aspect lies in its integration of production spaces within the retail environment. For example, customers can observe the preparation of nut butter or coffee grinding and brewing. Other dedicated stations—a juice counter, a bakery, a chocolate shop—create transparency between process and product. The design allows customers to witness the transformation of raw ingredients, an approach that turns routine shopping into an educational or relaxing experience.

Through this thoughtful architectural approach, Le Marche at DLF Promenade transcends its commercial programme to become a celebration of culinary culture. The project demonstrates a careful consideration of space, materials, and experience, elevating retail architecture.
