Located in Greater Noida’s Core City Mall, Sri Ram and Sons, a 140-year-old clothing brand with deep roots in Chandni Chowk, Delhi, presents itself as an accessible fashion destination. Offering high-quality clothing at prices approximately 20% lower than other premium brands, the store’s design reflects its historical legacy while creating a welcoming retail environment.
Spanning approximately 1,800 square feet, the store is divided into two distinct zones, each with its own colour palette and purpose. The formal wear section embraces a grey tone, while the ethnic wear area features warm maroon hues. This colour coding serves not only aesthetic purposes but also functions as an intuitive wayfinding mechanism for customers, guiding them through the space with visual clarity.

Architectural elements pay homage to Old Delhi’s rich design legacy through its architectural vocabulary—wrought iron grills, ornamented columns, and intricate brackets—connecting the brand to its historical origins. A signature wallpaper depicting a classical palace scene anchors the space, symbolising the brand’s historical journey.
The store’s design philosophy extends beyond visual appeal to functional elegance. Minimalist floor-to-ceiling racks offer flexible hanging configurations, accommodating different clothing types with ease. Innovative mirror arch portals create a sense of visual dynamism, making the space feel larger and more engaging. Traditional ceiling tiles, subtly differentiated in each zone, add depth and character to the environment.

Strategically positioned seating areas, particularly in the ethnic section, demonstrate a nuanced understanding of customer behaviour. Their provision is an acknowledgement of the time-intensive nature of traditional garment selection. These spaces are thoughtfully designed for customers to comfortably try on traditional attire like Sherwani, recognising that such purchases often require more time and consideration.
The success of this project lies in its ability to translate a 140-year-old brand identity into a modern retail experience while maintaining accessibility and cultural authenticity. Through careful attention to spatial organisation, material selection, and cultural references, the design creates a retail environment that feels both historically connected and contemporarily relevant.
