Located in the M3M Merlin complex in Gurugram, this penthouse was designed for a family of four. Spanning the 24th and 25th floors, the penthouse balances modernist principles with subtle classical influences, responding to the client’s brief for understated elegance.

The design employs a considered approach to vertical programming. The lower level houses the primary living areas, where a dramatic double-height living volume serves as the home’s central space. Floor-to-ceiling glazing creates a seamless connection between the interior and the urban landscape, maximising natural illumination. This transparency not only floods the space with light but also transforms the city views into an ever-changing architectural element.

The living area features a sculptural circulation core—a helical metal staircase that replaces the previous conventional, boxy original design.

In the master suite, located on the upper floor, the design shows restraint in material expression. The space is articulated through a sophisticated layering of textures—incorporated wallpaper, painted panelling, and wooden flooring—to create a warm, cosy atmosphere. Complementing the modern furniture, eclectic elements like cornices, mouldings, and frames have been added to introduce classical nuances that lend depth and character to the contemporary space. The master suite’s connection to an exterior terrace creates a private outdoor space—a crucial element in today’s high-rise residential design.

This floor also incorporates dedicated spaces, including a small office, a yoga room, and a terrace, providing versatile areas for work, wellness, and relaxation. The upper floor’s programme is more sensitive to the family’s living patterns.

The children’s bedrooms maintain a minimalist aesthetic, acknowledging the standard spatial constraints of apartment living. Throughout the design, the approach balances functional requirements with aesthetic sophistication, creating a home that feels both modern and inviting.

Through careful attention to spatial organisation, material selection, and architectural detail, the design creates a residential environment that feels both contemporary and classic. The design serves practical living requirements, creating spaces that support modern family life while maintaining design integrity.
